How do I get started with MealStack?+
Sign up for a free account, complete the onboarding wizard, and you'll be ready to add clients and create meal plans. Check our Getting Started guide for a step-by-step walkthrough.
Which food databases are included?+
MealStack includes IFCT 2017 (542 Indian raw foods), INDB 2024 (1,014 Indian cooked recipes), and USDA FoodData Central (7,793 international foods), totalling 9,349+ foods with 80+ nutrients each. You can also look up branded packaged products via barcode scan (powered by Open Food Facts), and add your own custom foods.
Can I share meal plans via WhatsApp?+
Yes. When you deliver a meal plan, MealStack generates a WhatsApp share link with a pre-filled message and optional PDF download link. Your client receives the plan directly in their WhatsApp chat.
Is there a limit on the free plan?+
The free plan supports up to 3 clients with basic meal planning, the IFCT food database, and 10 AI credits to try. Upgrade to Starter (₹1,499/mo) for 25 clients, full IFCT + INDB + USDA database, client portal, and 150 AI credits/month.
How does the client portal work?+
The client portal is a branded, installable PWA (Progressive Web App) that your clients add to their home screen. They can view meal plans, log meals (as planned, modified, or skipped), track water, log weight, chat with you, view goals, and get push notifications. You see real-time compliance tracking with a calendar showing exactly which meals were logged vs missed each day.
How does in-app messaging work?+
You can send messages to clients directly from their profile in your dashboard. Clients receive push notifications and can reply from their portal. The full conversation history is preserved in the client record, so you never lose context like in WhatsApp threads.
What is the public profile page?+
Every practitioner gets a free landing page at mealstack.io/p/your-name. It shows your services, testimonials, FAQ, contact info, and social links. Share it as your link-in-bio on Instagram, WhatsApp status, or business cards. It's SEO optimized and mobile-first.
How does AI food scanning work?+
Clients take a photo of their meal in the portal. GPT-4o Vision identifies the foods, estimates portions, and looks up nutrition from the IFCT/INDB/USDA database. The client confirms the detected foods before saving to their diary. It's trained on Indian cuisine: dal, roti, sabzi, dosa, and more.
Can clients swap foods in their meal plan?+
Yes. When you set up alternative foods for items in a meal plan, clients can tap any food and choose from approved alternatives. Nutrition is recalculated in real-time so they stay within their targets.
How do I invite team members?+
Go to Settings → Team, click 'Invite Member', and enter their email with a role (Lead Dietitian, Dietitian, Intern, or Receptionist). They'll receive an invitation email to join your practice.
Can I customize the PDF meal plan exports?+
Yes. Go to Settings → Export & Branding to set your clinic logo, colors, contact info, and choose which sections to include (cover page, nutrient summary, recipes, grocery list, etc.).
Do you support regional Indian food names?+
Yes. You can search using Hindi and regional aliases. For example, searching 'aloo' finds potato, 'bhindi' finds okra, 'batata' finds sweet potato. Aliases are built into the IFCT database.
How do I contact support?+
You can reach us via the contact form on this page, email us at support@mealstack.io, or call +91 82870 32779 (Mon–Sat, 10 AM – 7 PM IST).
Can I search for branded/packaged foods?+
Yes. When you search for a food in the meal plan builder and don't find it locally, MealStack can look up branded products (like Amul, Britannia, MTR, etc.) via Open Food Facts. You can also enter a barcode number directly. Once you find the product, click 'Save & Add to Meal' to save it as a custom food in your practice for future use.
How accurate is the nutrition data?+
All IFCT and INDB data is verified bit-for-bit against the original published sources using automated audit scripts. We run source-level verification to ensure zero data drift from import. USDA data comes directly from FoodData Central. Custom foods and branded lookups are unverified (labeled accordingly) and practitioners should cross-check with product labels.
Can I collapse the sidebar for more workspace?+
Yes. Press ⌘B (or Ctrl+B on Windows) to toggle the sidebar between expanded and icon-only mode. The sidebar also auto-collapses when you're inside a meal plan editor to give you maximum canvas width. Your preference is remembered across sessions.
